Χαῖρε! Cheers!

I’m a theater scholar, artist, and teacher.

I specialize in pre-modern drama, especially Classical Greek theater; adaptation & translation; and pedagogy.

I fell in love with two subjects from an early age: Greek mythology and the theater. Eventually, my attention would turn to wider topics—Greek tragedy and comedy, medieval European drama, traditional Japanese theater, and others.

Over the years, as my interests blossomed into intense study, I’ve discovered my true passion: making these seemingly outdated plays and theatrical traditions accessible to us now, that we might reevaluate our preconceptions of these works and revitalize our theatrical practices now by looking to the ever-present past.

I earned a Ph.D. at The Ohio State University in the Department of Theater, Film, and Media Arts in 2024.

My dissertation investigates restorations and performances of fragmentary Greek comedy, including plays by Aristophanes, Menander, and “lost” playwrights like Alexis and Nikokhares.

Scholar

My research has been presented at the Archive of Performances of Greek and Roman Drama in Oxford, the Classical Association of the Middle West and South, the Association for Theater in Higher Education, and the Comparative Drama Conference.

Artist

I’ve adapted, translated, directed, and acted in plays ranging from Shakespeare to Aristophanes, Feydeau to Lovecraft, and Euripides to new works.

Teacher

I come from a family of teachers, and education is near and dear to me. I taught for several years at the middle and high school levels before starting at university.

Scene from Lisa’s Treaty, a new adaptation of Aristophanes’ Lysistrata, which I translated, directed, and acted in for the OSU Lab Series, October 2019.

Previously, I earned my M.A. Theater degree from OSU in 2019. My master’s thesis explored the use of the chorus in Greek tragedy by two American theater companies in the 21st century.

Before that, I earned a B.A. in Theater with Secondary English Education Licensure from Adams State College (now University) in Southern Colorado. This threefold hybrid degree - theater, English, and education - equipped me with a breadth of knowledge that has served me well as a theater educator and artist.
